From the second Dion Lee's logo appeared in its blocky machine font and banging synthesised sounds started playing, we knew we were in for something futuristic in feel. Metal strips across the front of Lee's dresses had the look of cyborgish rib cages; at other times the metal sat across the knees of slim white pants. Fabrics and shapes had a sporty athleticism, and we noted something of an homage to Gucci Spring 2010 with the theme of cold metal on crisp white running through both.
As well as hitting the catwalk for L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF)'s Runway 2, Dion Lee also scooped the Vogue Designer Award (more from that event shortly).
